Finding and connecting with members of your Sangam
Use your Sangam's member directory, send a Contact Request, and choose which phone, WhatsApp, or email details each Connection sees.
Vysya Setu lets you find other members of your Sangam and ask to connect, without anyone’s phone number being passed around without their permission. The app calls your Sangam an Organization. Words in bold are the labels you see on screen.
Choose what others see first
Open Profile, then Who sees what. Two settings decide what other members see.
| Setting | What it covers | Choices |
|---|---|---|
| Profile card | Your real name, photo, city, native place, profession, and gotram | Only me, My Organizations, Network |
| Contact details | Your phone, WhatsApp, and email | Connections, My Organizations |
- My Organizations for your Profile card lists you in the member directory of each Sangam you belong to.
- Network lets confirmed members of verified Sangams find you in the Network directory.
- Connections for your contact details shows them only to people you have connected with, and only the fields you chose for each of them.
You can also tick Hide my native place or Hide my gotram. See what others see shows your card as a member of your Sangam, a Network member, and a Connection would see it. Choose Save settings when you are done.
Add your phone, WhatsApp number, and email under About you if you want to be able to share them.
Find members of your Sangam
On the home page, under your Sangam, choose Member directory. It lists active members of your Sangam who chose to be listed, in alphabetical order. You can search by name, place, or profession. Nobody from another Sangam appears there.
Your Sangam’s administrators can switch the member directory off. If they have, the page says so.
Ask to connect
- On a member’s Profile card, choose Ask to connect.
- Under Why are you asking?, choose a reason.
- Add a note if it helps them place you, for example which family you belong to or why you are writing.
- Choose Send request.
The member sees your Profile card and the Sangams you share, and can accept, decline, or block. A request waits for 30 days. You can withdraw it under People, then Requests you sent. You are never told if someone declined.
Answer a request
Open People, then Requests to you.
- To connect, choose Accept, tick the details you want to share (Phone, WhatsApp, Email), and choose Accept and connect.
- To say no, choose Decline. The other person is not told.
Stay in touch with your Connections
Open People, then Connections. Each Connection shows the contact details that person shared with you. Call them or message them on WhatsApp; Vysya Setu has no chat of its own.
- Change what I share changes which of your details one Connection sees.
- End Connection stops you both seeing each other’s details. They are not told.
If someone bothers you
Choose Block on their Profile card. They can no longer find you in any directory, see your Profile card or Business Listings, or send you Contact Requests, and any Connection between you ends. Your Sangam memberships do not change. To report a concern, use Report, as the support guide explains.
