Moving your Sangam's member list off WhatsApp
Set up your Sangam in Vysya Setu, invite members with one link in your WhatsApp group, and confirm each person you know.
A WhatsApp group tells you who is in the group. It does not tell you who is a member of your Sangam, and the list stays on the phone of whoever made the group. In Vysya Setu, your Sangam keeps its own member register. Each person joins with their real name and photo, and an office-bearer confirms them.
Keep your WhatsApp groups. You use them in this guide to share the invitation link, and later to share notices.
The app calls your Sangam an Organization. Words in bold below are the labels you see on screen.
Before you start
- Your phone number. You sign in with it and a one-time code.
- Your Profile. Add your real name and a clear face photo. The app asks for them before you can start an Organization.
- One other committee member. They join first, so you can name them as a recovery contact in step 5.
1. Start your Sangam
- Open Start an Organization and sign in.
- Enter the Organization name as your members know it. Add a Location if you want to.
- Choose Start Organization.
You become the first administrator. Your Sangam shows Not verified until we verify it in step 5, and you can invite and confirm members before then.
If the app says that a Verified Organization has a similar name, check that your Sangam is not already on Vysya Setu before you continue.
2. Create your invitation link
- On the home page, find your Sangam under Your Organizations and choose Your invitation links.
- Choose Create invitation link.
- Choose Copy link straight away. The app shows the link’s address only once.
A link works for 30 days. After that, create a new one. If a link reaches people it should not, choose Revoke my link. Revoking stops new requests through that link; requests already waiting stay for your review.
Every confirmed member can create their own link, so committee members can invite the people they know. Creating or sharing a link does not let anyone confirm members.
3. Share the link in your WhatsApp group
Paste the link into the group with a short message. For example (an example message, not a template from the app):
Our Sangam now keeps its member list on Vysya Setu. Open this link, sign in with your phone number, and add your real name and photo. The committee will confirm you.
Each person who opens the link:
- signs in with their phone number;
- sets up their Profile with their real name and a clear face photo;
- accepts the privacy notices and confirms that they are 18 or older;
- chooses Submit Enrollment.
Their request then waits for your review. Until you confirm it, they cannot see your Sangam’s member pages, notices, or events. Forwarding the link to another group gives nobody access.
4. Confirm the people you know
- On the home page, under your Sangam, choose Manage this Organization. This opens the Organization workspace.
- Open Pending reviews. Each request shows the person’s name, their current photo, and how long the request has waited.
- If you know the person, choose Confirm Membership. Tick that you reviewed their name and photo, then choose Submit decision.
- If you do not, choose Reject Enrollment and pick a reason:
- Name or photo is not recognizable
- Person is not known to this Organization
- Duplicate or invalid request
A confirmed member can open their Membership card straight away. A rejection is final for that request. A request that nobody reviews expires after 30 days.
Your confirmation says the person is a member of your Sangam. It does not check their Profile for anyone else.
5. Ask us to verify your Sangam
Verification is our check that your Sangam is real and that you represent it. Until we finish, your Sangam shows Not verified wherever it appears.
- In the Organization workspace, open Verification.
- Under Member to name as recovery contact, pick a confirmed member and choose Add recovery contact. The app asks for a second administrator or a recovery contact before you can request verification.
- Choose Request verification. The status changes to Request under review.
6. Share the publishing work
You do not have to publish every notice and event yourself.
- In the Organization workspace, open Publisher assignments.
- Choose Grant publisher next to an active member and confirm.
That member can now publish official notices and events for your Sangam. Choose Revoke publisher to end it. What they already published stays.

Your member register is ready. Running your first Sangam event with RSVPs shows how to invite members to an event and see the headcount before the day. Members who need help joining can read the support guide.
